The unlikely portraits #20
„The unlikely portraits“ is a series of pictures shot between 2016 and 2020 for “WIR-Magazin im Gerauer Land”. It contains pictures of politicians, artists, entrepreneurs, people engaged in social projects, priests, principals etc. in the district of Gross-Gerau in the Rhine-Main region. I tried to do the people justice with the pictures, just the way I got to know the person in the first way, but I also tried to avoid the “classical” portrait. The pictures had been published in colour, but they were meant to be in black and white right from the beginning, and most of them have been shot in black and white too.
Bei „The unlikely portraits“ handelt es sich um eine Auswahl an Bildern, die zwischen 2016 und 2020 im Zuge meiner Arbeit als Redakteur des WIR-Magazins im Gerauer Land entstanden sind. Es sind Aufnahmen von Politikern, Künstlern, Unternehmern, ehrenamtlich Engagierten, Pfarrern, Schul-Direktoren usw. im Kreis Groß-Gerau im Rhein-Main-Gebiet. Ich wollte versuchen, den Menschen, wie ich sie kennengelernt habe, auch fotografisch gerecht zu werden und gleichzeitig das klassische Porträt nach Möglichkeit zu vermeiden. Veröffentlicht wurden die Bilder in Farbe, waren aber von Anfang an in schwarz-weiß gedacht und größtenteils auch direkt so aufgenommen worden.

Stolpersteine – Obstacles
Der Künstler Gunter Demnig verlegt „Stolpersteine“ in Groß-Gerau in Erinnerung an die jüdischen Familien Schott. – The artist Gunter Demnig installs „obstacles“ in Gross-Gerau in remembrance of the jewish families Schott.
